Digital Projection Satellite system takes the spotlight at Gärtnerplatztheater opera house
Digital Projection’s modular satellite modular laser system (MLS) has been installed in Munich’s historic Gärtnerplatztheater in Germany.

The famous Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, Germany, required a new projector system, calling on Gärtnerplatztheater’s head of video, Raphael Kurig, provided by Digital Projection’s German partner, ETHA.

Two Digital Projection Satellite MLS projectors were installed in the front and back of the theatre, replacing a previous generation, quad-lamp Titan projector. The opera house required a system that could provide at least 30,000 lumens.

The Satellite system was chosen due to the space constraints within the venue, allowing for ultra-bright RGB laser projection where it would have been impossible to hang larger, heavier projectors.

Kurig says: “Working in a heritage building like the Gärtnerplatztheater, space is always at a premium, but the demand for higher brightness often leads to bigger, heavier projectors unsuitable for venues such as ours. It was clear that when it came time for a projection upgrade, Satellite MLS, with its unique modular design, was the only solution on the market that fit our needs. We can’t wait to see what our audience thinks as we put the new system through its paces.”
