InFocus has announced two acquisitions in two days, first was the news it had bought Avistar, a video conferencing software provider. One day later it then announced it had bought Vidco, a provider of multimedia room and building systems.
The Avistar acquisition enables InFocus to offer video conferencing affordable for all budgets.
Avistar software technology is already deployed in the first-ever all-in-one Mondopad video conferencing system as well as the various calling services, such as ConX, InFocus provides. Additional products integrating Avistar solutions will be announced soon.
The acquisition of Vidco, based in Frankfurt, Germany, provides new resources for InFocus, its EMEA channel partners and its end users. In March, InFocus will open an EMEA Executive Briefing Center and Training Academy in Frankfurt. InFocus channel partners will gain a facility to preview and bring customers to see InFocus’ products, from projectors, to touch-enabled displays and videophones, to video conferencing and collaboration products. A regular schedule of sales and technical training classes for partners will be offered.
Other resources added through the acquisition will allow InFocus to offer a range of professional services to its channel partners, augmenting their own expertise with room design, network design, installation, and other services in support of deployments across a range of industries.
Mark Housley, InFocus CEO said: "This acquisition enhances our ability to localise and customize service for the European market, which is of paramount importance to our growth strategy."
Post-acquisition, Vidco will continue to provide sales and support, working closely with other InFocus partners in Europe.
